Angela Lamonte trained as a yoga teacher at both the 200 and 500-hour levels at Yoga on High, where she has been teaching since 2004. She teaches many different populations of students and types of classes—New Beginners, Prenatal, Level 1, Level 2, and Gentle Yoga. She has also taught the mommies and babies classes, and various classes for kids and parents, which reflects her long-time career as an early childhood educator.
Angela teaches an ongoing Chair Yoga class in a retirement community for people who range in age from the late seventies onward. Currently, this group’s eldest member is 86. This age group is of special interest to her, and she has worked hard to develop ways to impart the benefits of yoga to them. Additionally, she shares these benefits with the visiting nursing students in the class so that they begin to think about the needs and interests of elders in terms of their physical bodies and their spirits.
Angela enjoys finding ways for everyone to benefit from the practice of yoga, working from their own starting points. In recent years, she has served as an adjunct teacher in the year-long 200-hour Teacher Training Program, and in now a regular teacher in the 6-month Teacher Training Program, which allows her to pass along some of the things she loves about practicing and teaching yoga.
