Yoga Teacher Training

Rhonda Kuster

Rhonda Kuster, E-RYT 500, has a deep passion for, and dedication to, the art of yoga. She began her yoga journey in 1997 and has since studied with many of the best teachers in the country. Some who have influenced her work are Rodney Yee, Tim Miller, Donna Farhi, Tias Little, Doug Keller, and Richard Freeman—showing that she has an eclectic approach to yoga and a curiosity that accommodates different styles and lineages.

In 1998, she took her first Sanskrit workshop with Cynthia Snodgrass and fell in love with the language. She has continued her studies with Vyaas Houston and her primary teacher, Leslie Freyberg, of the American Sanskrit Institute. Rhonda offers 'Intro to Sanskrit' workshops that make learning to pronounce Sanskrit terms fun and accessible. She wants everyone to be comfortable speaking aloud  the names of yoga poses or chanting in Sanskrit.

In 2011, she completed training as an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist. Urban Zen incorporates five modalities into a program designed to help medical patients, in or out of the hospital, deeply relax and support their own healing process. The modalities are yoga therapy, Reiki, essential oil therapy, breath awareness, and contemplative care.  Urban Zen was founded by Donna Karan and is designed and taught by Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee, along with outstanding ancillary faculty. In 2012, Rhonda became a mentor to the next group of teacher trainees. She is on the Urban Zen faculty at Yoga on High and teaches Urban Zen to the Nurses at Kent State University.

Rhonda has been teaching Sanskrit and assisting at Rodney Yee and Colleen Saidman Yee's 200-hour and 500-hour teaching trainings in New York since 2013 and has joined the Yoga on High facility for the 2014 200-hour teacher training program.

She is inspired by her students and continues to find the awe and beauty of yoga with a beginners mind…always endeavoring to “keep her cup empty” and be receptive to what is happening in each moment.

Her classes are an eclectic mix of styles and influences, but usually with a focus on alignment, ease of mind, breath awareness, and yoga philosophy. She is delighted to share her practice and teaching of yoga with others to further ignite the vast joy and wonder of this beautiful art form – yoga.
