Michele Winship

Graduation Year:
2014

I am a career educator and long-time yogi who finally decided to combine my two passions. Embarking on a new path after 50 has been both challenging and exhilarating and I look forward to continuing my education through additional training, workshops and retreats.

What you are doing now:

I am certified in Vinyasa and teach Hatha classes at Grant Fitness Center several times a week. Also, I currently serve as Assistant Program Manager for Yoga on High’s Urban Zen program and have co- taught Urban Zen classes to local teachers. I have several private yoga clients and I integrate modalities of Urban Zen (aromatherapy, guided meditation, Reiki) into most of my teaching.

What you gained from Yoga on High:

Yoga on High’s Teacher Training program provided me with a strong foundation to teach a variety of yoga styles to diverse yoga students. I have gained a deep knowledge of the philosophy of yoga, in addition to, an extensive practical knowledge of yoga anatomy, sequencing, adjusting and modifying for every type of student. Most importantly, I have had the opportunity to assist with and be mentored by amazing yoga teachers. With that foundation, I feel confident in planning and teaching my yoga classes and sharing the benefits of yoga with all of my students. I find that every teacher I have had in the program has influenced some aspect of my teaching and it is a gift to be able to experience so many yoga styles and instructors at Yoga on High. I have been able to combine styles in my personal practice and infuse my own classes with the many pearls of yoga wisdom I have learned along the way.
